ALL YOUR BASE

This morning I got up early to check out an apartment before work. I showed up at The Meadows complex around 8:20am. The building manager guy gave me the usual spiel and showed me the canonical brochures and maps. It looked good! So I asked him if he could show me the suite.

Then instead of getting up from his desk to show me the suite, I was handed a master key-ring of keys for the entire complex. He said, "this key here will open all the doors in the whole place, but you'll only need this other key here to open suite 2022." He placed the ring filled with keys in my hand and pointed to the appropriate location on my map.

It was a decent suite, a little old, but not terrible. But I was thinking, if I live here, how many rapists will come and open my door during the night?

Moral of the story: If you want someone to move into your apartment complex, at least give them the illusion of security.
