POWERLESS

Here in North America, there's 2 different kinds of electrical outlets: the 3-pin, which includes a ground, and the 2-pin without a ground. High tech stuff requires the 3-prong variety: things like LCD displays, external hard drives, and even power strips. But if you can even fathom it, every single outlet in my house is the 2 pin. Shitty! Here's what I've been considering:
  • complain to the power company and ask them to come here and upgrade me to 1985
  • hack an extension cord so the ground prong is unused and risk electrocuting myself?
  • read the entire Wikipedia article linked above to learn what the ground prong does
It's sad because although I work with electronics and computers all the time, I know almost nothing about electricity. I've may have wired up a rudimentary circuit with a LED, a battery and a switch when I was ten, but I still need to look at the directions every time I boost my car. Well, at least if I electrocute myself, I've built up a resistance using Dr. Ho's Massage System.
